Equity REITS vs Mortgage REITS

The Pelorus Fund is a Mortgage REIT. This is different that a more traditional equity REIT in that the investment is in the mortgage, not the property. This reduces risk as the first dollar lost is to the property owner. Whereas we're secured and protected by the equity in the property.
