North Korea says its missile launches early Thursday were a simulation of scorched earth nuclear strikes on South Korea, the always-riched green has more.
The state-run Korean central news agency said Thursday the two ballistic missiles fired from the Capitol Pyongyang Wednesday night could potentially strike major command centers and operational airfields in South Korea.
South Korea's military said the missiles were fired hours after the U.S. deployed B-1B bombers for Allied air drills.
North Korea has been increasing its protest of ongoing joint military drills between U.S. and South Korean forces that it views as a rehearsal for an invasion.
Officials in Washington and Seoul maintain the drills are purely defensive.
The U.S. has about 28,000 troops deployed in South Korea.
