The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, has confirmed that the latest death toll from the building that caught fire in the Joburg CBD was at least 64 (however, the latest figure has been confirmed to be at least 73). He said more than 43 others were injured and taken to hospitals for necessary treatment including the youngest, being a one year old child. He added that the cause of the fire is still unknown. Survivors, Malawian nationals, Doreen Kumwenda (26) and her relative Asha Amado (28) are stranded outside a store with luggage after their building was gutted by fire.
