Painting Castle Crag in Oils Vol1

This video was filmed while working on a commissioned painting of a rock formation of Castle Crag, a very popular spot with rock climbers. This rock formation forms part of Arapiles Mountain in Victoria.

The painting was done using an imprimatura and grisaille underpainting, shown in this first video.

Materials used.
Caravaggio linen mounted on dibond aluminium panel (90 x 60 cm), using BEVA 371.

Paints used for the first two stages shown in this video.
Winsor and Newton alkyd burnt sienna
Neutral grey N5 (Michael Harding)
Cremnitz White (Blue Ridge Oils)
Mars Black (Langridge)

Pure distilled Gum Turpentine (Michael Harding)
