I almost got beat up by some #migrants in Queens 8/16/23. Had to file a report after I lost my Ids.

The #migrant #migrantcrisis is real out there. Be safe out there when covering those shelters. I didn't know that the hotel over at 38th and Queens Blvd was a Migrant Shelter I was there to cover a StandWithJFAW Justice for App Workers event about the Deliversitas. this is what happened.

Some of those Migrants are real shady. I totally understand the situation full hand. I think they wanted to steal my phone. Straight up savagery going on. This is all about the money. The only reason I went to file a report was because I lost my ids. I have to wait 24-48 hrs to get a Police Report number so I can go to the DmV.

I'm good..I'm safe. Just a learning lesson. It didn't matter if I had my press pass on or not. They don't really care. They are shady. They can care less if you have it on or not. 8/16/23

Thanks to the 17th pct for filing out my report. And I don't believe in any xenophobia or any racist sentiments. It happens. I don't think that all migrants are bad. Just because only a few gave me a hard time doesn't mean that all of them are bad. Life happens, just doesn't mean that all of them are evil. This county and this city is a mess with this situation.
