Do you have a fireplace or fire barrel and regularly burn wood in it? Then you should definitely save the ashes and use them for your lawn. Because ashes are pretty good for the lawn! You can use this for example to remove moss from the lawn but also to fertilize ash is pretty good. The reason is that ash died alkaline and has good ingredients that the lawn needs.

However, it is important that you only use ash from untreated wood. It should not have been oiled or varnished, nor should you have used accelerants when burning the wood, and barbecue charcoal or briquettes are also not suitable for use on the lawn. The reason for this is that they contain pollutants, which you would then also spread on your lawn. You will end up harming the lawn more than helping it. Also make sure that no nails or staples etc. were in the wood, otherwise you will also spread them on your lawn and can hurt yourself.

To fertilize your lawn now with ash and get rid of the moss, you should use about 25-30 g per m² area. This is usually a good handful. Just spread the ash on the lawn and make sure it is reasonably windless so that the ash ends up where you want it. Then, over the next few days, you should get some rain so that the ashes can move into the lawn. If it does not rain, you can also water the lawn yourself once.

It is best to do this procedure in spring, because if it is still too cold, the lawn cannot absorb the nutrients properly. But you can also treat your lawn with ash in summer or autumn.
