Fellow Bluford, First African American in Space: 40 Years of Motivation

n 1983, NASA's Person Bluford broke boundaries and left a mark on the world as the primary African American space traveler in space. Hear from Bluford himself, see film from his Space Transport missions, and praise the achievements that eternity changed the scene of room investigation.

Bluford's most memorable mission was STS-8, which sent off from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on Aug. 30, 1983. This was the third trip for the Challenger orbiter, and the main mission with a night send off and late evening landing. During the mission, the STS-8 team conveyed the Indian Public Satellite (INSAT-1B), worked the Canadian-fabricated RMS with the Payload Flight Test Article (PFTA), worked the Ceaseless Stream Electrophoresis Framework (CFES) with live cell tests, directed clinical estimations to comprehend biophysiological impacts of spaceflight, and enacted four "Escape Extraordinary" canisters. STS-8 finished 98 circles of the Earth in 145 hours prior to arriving at Edwards Flying corps Base, California, on Sept. 5, 1983.
