You will fin Wonder Woman on the big screen this Summer and a whole cast of them at Shakespeare in Delaware Park. Veteran actress Darleen Pickering Hummert is part of the ground breaking, gender bending-The Merry Wives Of Windsor and she says "There are twenty-five wonder woman out here every Tuesday to Sunday." In this production, some of the women are playing women and some are gluing on beards and mustaches to play the men. Even this years apprentices are all female. Apprentices do all the heavy lifting, arriving before the rest of the cast and they are the last to leave. In between lifting & moving furniture, setting props the girls ranging in age from thirteen to sixteen get to play dress up and actually be in the show. There are no small parts when in comes to Shakespeare in Delaware Parks 42nd season. Each role has it's own challenges, even for veterans like Darleen who plays "host of the tavern" and adding "but I don't drink." The Merry Wives of Windsor runs Tuesday through Sunday at 7:30 through July 16th. It's free and you can find more information at the Shakespeare in Delaware Park web site.
