My Favorite Way To Start A Knit Hat

Im starting a teen/ small adult stocking hat. This method is my favorite and makes a nice edge on the hat. I crochet a chain around the knitting needle by wrapping the yarn under the needle to create my next stitch. I crocheted on 80 loops. The loop on my crochet hook made 81 loops. To join I put my first loop on the working yarn needle and slid my last loop (the one that came off my crochet hook) over the first loop and pulled it snug. I moved the first loop back onto the other needle and placed a stitch marker to mark my first stitch. My favorite ribbing for a hat is K3 P2.
