First off, you’re not alone. When I first started my Etsy journey back in 2016, I also didn’t know what SEO meant, and I was really annoyed a lot of people were telling me it’s important.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and Etsy isn’t the only place where its important. Google, Amazon, Pinterest, anywhere there’s a search box, you want good SEO.

So what is Search Engine Optimization? When your Etsy listing is optimized, it will show up in search results on Etsy. It’s that simple. You want your listings to show up in search results. That’s one of the biggest benefits of being on Etsy in the first place.

So how do you get your listing optimized? There’s lots of different aspects of your Etsy listing that helps you show up in search results, but one of them, a dang important one, is keywords. You want to use keywords in your listing that people type in the search box when wanting to buy whatever it is you’re selling.

Spoiler alert, people most likely aren’t searching the name of the pattern you used. Like “Gracie Doll”. They’re going to be searching things like heirloom doll, Handmade baby doll with accessories, custom baby doll, soft doll for baby girl… etc.

If you have a listing that’s not doing well try to beef up your SEO by adding searchable keywords to your title, description and tags.

Warning, if it’s doing well don’t touch the listing!

If you found this post helpful tag an Etsy seller friend in the comments! Happy optimizing!
