mystification and demystification

The Communist pamphlet "A revolutionary strategy for gay liberation" (1992) stated, "Edward Bernstein attacked the hypocrisy of bourgeois sexual morality and argued that it was the responsibility of the socialist movement to provide rational and scientific leadership on sexual questions." According to Marxist & art critic John Berger (1972), “mystification is the process of explaining away what might otherwise be evident.” Mystification is a process of obscuring the perception of reality by ideological programming - transforming their own lived experiences into subjectivity, reducing people to social subjects. In the video John Berger demonstrated that before any programming, children can clearly see the sexual confusion in the art of Caravaggio (a suspected homosexual). In the photo a sexually confused person is programming children (by 'clarifying' old norms & mystifying new norms) - in-line with the goals of the Marxist gay revolution.
