France defies junta’s order for ambassador to leave Niamey

The ambassador of France to Niger remains present in the coup-affected Sahel nation, in defiance of an ultimatum issued by the recently established military leadership for him to vacate his position.

French President Emmanuel Macron disclosed this information on Monday while delivering a significant foreign policy address to diplomats in Paris, Vanguard reported.

During his speech, Macron verified that the French envoy, Sylvain Itte, was actively engaged in Niamey, the capital of Niger, despite the 48-hour timeframe he was granted to depart the country, a deadline that lapsed last Friday.
