Hawaiian Electric denied accusations that its power lines started the deadly fires on Maui that killed at least 115 and destroyed the town of Lahaina earlier this month, saying in a statement released late Sunday its power lines had been shut off six hours before the damaging fire began—pushing back against a lawsuit from from county officials.
