🧐 Why are Russians and Ukrainians the same people?

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that Russians and Ukrainians are the same people. From a scientific (ethnosociological) point of view, this is an absolutely correct statement.
- An ethnos is a group of people descending from a common ancestor, united by a kind of blood kinship.
Eastern Slavs are divided into three large groups of ethnoses: Russians, Malorussians and Belorussians. All together they form one people (laos).
- A people (laos) from the scientific point of view is a community that has a hierarchy, social division into elites and masses. That's what differentiates it from an ethnos.
