A recent study found that people who took proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) for more than 4.5 years had a 33% higher risk of developing dementia than people who didn't take these drugs. PPIs are the most common type of acid reflux medication, and they work by reducing the amount of acid produced in your stomach.
