133 days of sun
The video chronicles solar activity from August 12 to December 22, 2022, as captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) during its 13-year orbit around Earth. SDO's 4K x 4K resolution images have unveiled numerous insights into the Sun's behavior and its effects on the solar system. The observatory employs a trio of instruments, capturing a snapshot of the Sun every 0.75 seconds. The Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) captures images every 12 seconds at 10 distinct wavelengths. This time-lapse, spanning 133 days, highlights images taken at 17.1 nanometers, showcasing the Sun's outermost atmospheric layer, the corona. The 59-minute video compiles images captured 108 seconds apart, revealing four months of solar observations. Notable are the bright active regions traversing the Sun's surface as it completes a rotation in approximately 27 days.
