Spanish prosecutors say they've begun a sexual assault investigation into the country's football federation chief Luis Rubiales - after he kissed midfielder Jenni Hermoso on the lips when her team won the Women's World Cup.

Spain's football association held an urgent meeting to discuss the crisis - while Rubiales' mother says she's gone on hunger strike over what she calls an "inhuman hunt" against her son.
