Ruteng is a district that is also the capital of Manggarai Regency, in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Ruteng is also known as one of the coldest regions in Indonesia. The air route is connected through Frans Sales Lega Airport or Ruteng Airport. The population is predominantly Catholic. The city of Ruteng is also known by a nickname, "City of a Thousand Monasteries / City of a Thousand Churches". Here, people still preserve an ancient Manggarai custom called "caci" (whip fighting), and it is also one of the tourist attractions in the region. The population of Ruteng in 2021 was 44,020 people, with a population density of 606 people/km².
