"Long ago, our ancestors migrated to the eastern foothills of the Serpentspine. We were ashamed of our actions. How could we have eaten our former masters? So we fled. We traveled across the world to escape from our guilt and shame. Eventually we found this place and stayed here. We built settlements across the hills, but most of us congregated in the Shigrii, our ancient fortresses.
Then the humans found us. Most humans lived in small tribes, but a few had built fledgling countries. They saw us as demons. They hated us, scorned our existence, and killed us whenever they were able. Their hatred of us exceeded our shame, but we played into it. We decided to live as the demons they thought us to be. Those humans who did not submit to our rule were sacrificed and eaten. They followed the so called "Righteous Path" so we now follow the Lefthand Path. Many have tried to conquer us, the Humans, the Harimari, and even the Elves, but none have even come close.
