India on August 23 scripted history by becoming the first country to successfully soft-land on the moon's south pole. Following the landing, congratulations poured in from all across the world including major space giants NASA and the UK Space Agency were among the ones who congratulated India immediately after it landed on the moon. Taking to X Handle, NASA’s Bill Nelson said that “We are glad to be your partner on this mission!” The UK Space Agency was also quick to congratulate India for the historic achievement. In a statement, Anu Ojha said that “Chandrayaan-3 on the moon is further evidence that we are living in a new space age”. With this success, India has become the fourth country- after the US, China and Russia – to have successfully landed on the moon’s surface. India has also earned a place in record books as the first to touchdown on the south side of Earth’s only natural satellite.
