In the plot, Helena buried her past, without revealing to her husband and two daughters what she faced in childhood. She is the daughter of a local maniac who kept her mother kidnapped for 12 years. When her father escapes from prison and seeks refuge in the swamp where he has held the two captive, Helena realizes that she is taking a great risk.
