Going to see the Cool Cloud Forming over Gibraltar

A gorgeous cloud is forming over The Rock of Gibraltar, which is termed “Levante” here in Spain, and in Gibraltar they term it “The Levanter Cloud.”
Stemming from the word “levantar”, which is where the sun rises, the cloud is formed when winds from east flow from the Alborán Sea and pass over The Rock of Gibraltar. The cool sea air condenses rapidly as it makes its way up 1,398 feet to the top, where these magnificent clouds are formed. The wind direction here changes frequently and rapidly. Being nestled in between 2 continents as the gateway to the Atlantic Ocean, or the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea, the Strait of Gibraltar creates rapid winds. The sea meeting the ocean also causes very stirring and dangerous waters where 1000’s of ships pass annually at one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.
