The world record jump from space refers to the Red Bull Stratos mission in 2012. Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner, sponsored by Red Bull, made a record-breaking jump from a helium balloon at an altitude of approximately 39 kilometers (24 miles) above the Earth's surface. This mission aimed to gather data for scientific research and test new technologies for high-altitude jumps. Baumgartner's freefall lasted about 4 minutes and 20 seconds, reaching a top speed of around 1,357 kilometers per hour (843 miles per hour), breaking the sound barrier during his descent.
