It sounds a bit strange to put matches in your flowers, but it has two really big advantages. And that's exactly what I want to show you in this video.

For the first trick you should put the matches head first into the potting soil, depending on the size of the pot it should be 2-8 matches. Here, the sulfur components in the match head will be dissolved by the watering water.

This will kill fungus gnat larvae and so you will have no more annoying fungus gnats in your plants in the future. But you can also make a fertilizer from matches.

Put some matches in some water and let it stand for 30 minutes. This will also dissolve the components of the match head. Especially sulfur, phosphorus and magnesium. When this has dissolved, you can fertilize your plants with it.

Because of the phosphorus your plant can form a healthy and strong root system. Magnesium and sulfur then provide really beautiful lush green leaves. If you water your plants every two weeks with this DIY fertilizer, they will benefit from it.
