Lil Clucker Watering Cups 9 Month Review, Are They Worth The Price?

The question here is not are the cups good, but are they worth the $4 per cup price when there are much cheaper options available?
The red cups with the yellow flappers shown in this video do have a longer learning curve for the chickens to figure out, which is why I ordered the Lil Cluckers. Eventually they all got the hang of the cheap cups but they still seem to prefer the cups that they can see the water in.
Over the 9 months I've had the Lil Cluckers, two developed leaks which caused a constant flow of water and one was broken by a spastic rooster.
I've probably had a similar fail rate on the cheap cups, but at less than a dollar each it hurts less when you have to swap one out.
Seeing how I'm down to just 2 of the Lil Cluckers left, I found a deal on Amazon which has 9 similar cups, 9 PVC Tees and 9 Nipples for $17. ($20 with a $3 coupon).
I've tried using nipples in the past, and the chickens just can't seem to figure them out.
My plan is to run a branch off of the existing water line and hang some nipples vertically at the entrance to their feeding station in the hopes they will finally figure them out.
Vertical Nipples are the lowest maintenance way to water the chickens if they can learn how to use them.

Below are links with pricing for the Lil Cluckers, a similar product to the Red Cups with Yellow flappers, and the set that is on it's way from Amazon that I'll be testing out next weekend.
