The Sukanya Sumangala Yojana is a monetary benefit scheme for girl children in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The scheme offers financial assistance to the guardians or parents of two girl children in one family. The Sukanya Sumangala Yojana was launched on 25th October 2019 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh by Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath. The Kanya Sumangala Yojana falls under the Women and Child Development Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Features of Kanya Sumangala Yojana
• The beneficiary will receive Rs.15000 in total by the State Government
• There are 6 installments with equal amount credited in favor of the girl child

The eligibility criteria for Kanya Sumangala Yojana specifies the following points-
• Permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh
• Only two daughters in a family can be benefitted from the scheme
• Accounts can be opened within 6 months of birth of the girl child
• The family income must not exceed Rs.3 Lakh
• Families with adopted girl child are also eligible for the scheme
• In case there are twin girls in a family, the third girl child can also enroll.
The scheme focuses on-
• Providing financial assistance to the girl child
• Help the girls of UP state in completing their education
• To establish equal sex-ratio, eliminate female foeticide and develop positive thinking.
Here is an insight of the installments in which the scheme amount is presented to the beneficiary:
First Phase: At the birth of a girl child. Rs. 2,000/- lump sum.

Second Phase: After complete vaccination of the girl child up to one year. Rs. 1,000/- lump sum.

Third Phase: After the admission of girl child in first class Rs. 2,000/- lump sum.

Fourth Phase: After the admission of girl child in class VI Rs. 2,000/- lump sum.

Fifth Phase: After the admission of girl child in class IX Rs. 3,000/- lump sum
Sixth Phase: Such girls who have passed class 12th and have taken admission in graduation or diploma courses of 02 years or more duration. Rs. 5,000/- lump sum.

Documents Required:
Following documents must be submitted to get enrolled for the scheme-
• Parent/Guardian’s Aadhaar Card
• Ration Card
• Bank Details and Passbook
• Proof of annual income
• Passport size photos of the Parents and Girl Child
• In case of adopted girl child, the certificate of adoption must be submitted.

How to open an account?
Applications for Kanya Sumangala Yojana are now being accepted and accounts can be opened online on the official Chief Minister kanya Sumangala Yojana website. Follow the given instructions to get your daughter enrolled under the scheme-
• Go to the official website- Click Here
• Now, click on “Apply Here” in the Citizen’s Service Portal
• Existing users can enter their Login ID, Password and click on ‘Sign In’. If you are a new user, you must read the terms and conditions and then click on ‘I Agree’ (on the redirected page) to Sign-up
• Now, fill the registration form and click on ‘Send OTP’ to verify
• On the next page, you will have to verify by entering the OTP received on the provided mobile number
• After that, login on the website by entering your ID and Password
• Now, fill the Kanya Sumangala Yojana registration form with all the required details and click to ‘Submit’
