Power From On High

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Do you remember when you turned your life over to Christ? How did you change? Was it difficult?

Why do you think it seems difficult for most Christians, (at least in America), to maintain a strong and dedicated prayer life?

Matt. 6:6 “When you pray, go into your inner room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in the secret place will reward you openly.”
What might it mean when it says that the Father is in the secret place?
Why would God reward you for praying?
We can pray for our own needs; but we can also pray as service unto God. What kinds of things would we be praying if we intended to “serve” God’s purpose and kingdom with our prayers?

Matt 6:6 Shows that we are to have an experience with God when we pray. We are to pray not just to ourselves, but with Him where He is. Likewise, James 5:16 says that the “fervent” prayer is effective (as opposed to the casual, or disengaged prayer).
Why do you think fervent prayers get results?
Have you had both disengaged and fervent times of prayer? Can you describe the difference?
What can we do to help us stay engaged, and to pray fervently during our prayers?

What are some things that should be on our prayer list in this hour?
