Noah Lyles was involved in a Dramatic Buggy Crash on the way to the Track ahead of 200m Semi-Finals

American star Noah Lyles was involved in a dramatic crash shortly before his men's 200m semi-final at the World Championships in Budapest.

Lyles and the rest of the field were being transported in a golf buggy from the warm-up/holding area to the track when their vehicle collided with another.

The hefty shunt was so strong that it knocked the driver of one of the buggies out of his seat and onto the floor. The volunteer managed to return to his feet and walk away unscathed.

'I was trying to get the glass out of my eye. The doctor said I had some shards of glass in my eye. He tried to push them out as best as possible.

'World Athletics asked me if I was going to run or not. It was kind of run or lose my spot. I worked so hard to be here, so I thought I would at least try.'

The athletes involved were due to race in the first semi-final of the evening but the race was pushed back to being the third and final men's semi-final.

Both Lyles and Hudson were able to compete, with Lyles qualifying for Friday's final after winning the delayed race. Hudson did not progress after finishing fifth.

In a statement, the Local Organising Committee said: 'The 200m heats reorder was due to the collision of two golf carts. One athlete and a volunteer were assessed and the athlete was cleared to participate. He competed in the last heat. The volunteer is also fine. The Local Organising Committee is investigating the incident and reviewing the transport procedures.....
