And that's exactly what vodka can help against. But don't tip it directly from the bottle onto your mattress, instead put some vodka in a spray bottle. You can also add an essential oil of your choice to make it smell really nice.

The vodka has no smell of its own, but it will kill the bacteria in your mattress. All you have to do is spread a little of it on your mattress and then let it air dry.
