The RMT Union says it has the support of the public as it begins its latest strike action impacting half of rail services in England.

Around 20,000 rail workers are walking out on Saturday from 14 operators in a dispute over pay, jobs and conditions.

The RMT's Senior Assistant General Secretary, Eddie Dempsey, told Sky News that no formal negotiations had happened with industry partners since April, which the union blames on the government.
