A narwhal horn, often referred to as a "tusk," is a long, straight tooth that extends from the upper jaw of male narwhals, which are a type of Arctic whale. It can grow up to several meters in length. The tusk is actually an elongated left incisor tooth that spirals counter-clockwise, and it can protrude through the narwhal's upper lip. While its exact purpose is still debated, the tusk is believed to play a role in communication, mating rituals, and possibly navigation. It has made the narwhal one of the most recognizable and iconic marine creatures.
