GT20 Canada Season 3 kickstarted with the contest between Tim Southee's Brampton Wolves and Shoaib Malik's Mississauga Panthers.

The Wolves won the toss and chose to field first. The skipper Tim Southee having the ball in his hand was up against the Panthers openers, Tom Cooper and Chris Gayle. The Panthers got off to a shaky start with a mix-up between the openers that resulted in Tom Cooper getting run out. Chris Gayle after hitting a couple of boundaries, skied one up in the air, giving Logan van Beek his first wicket of the match. Shoaib Malik then arrived at the crease, and in an attempt to play his favorite cut shot off Chris Green, he chopped one onto the stumps. Azam Khan and Navneet Dhaliwal then steadied the ship with a good-looking partnership. Logan van Beek then got rid of Dhaliwal, while Chris Green sent James Neesham back to the pavilion cheaply. In the last 5 overs, the Wolves took away all the momentum from the Panthers. In the end, the Panthers got all out on 121.

The second innings got off to a flyer with Usman Khan taking on Parveen Kumar in the very first over. Seeing his partner, Aaron Johnson too got into attacking mode soon. Zahoor Khan ensured he got his countryman's wicket and got rid of the dangerous Usman Khan. But this didn't stop the Wolves from playing their natural aggressive gameplay. Aaron Johnson and Mark Chapman were cruising along the chase. With a handful of runs left, a sudden burst of the shower meant the play had to stop. After a brief break, the two teams shook hands and the Wolves won by 44 runs by the DLS method.

Logan van Beek was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell of 4-12.
