For outdoor enthusiasts Jim and Tori Baird, when their four-year-old son, Wesley, was first diagnosed with FOXG1, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, it seemed like their days of adventuring might be over. But after learning from doctors that being immersed in nature could have a positive impact on his development, the Bairds began taking Wesley and his baby brother, Hudson, on expeditions into the backcountry, doing off-grid living their way.
