On 25 Dec 2021, NASA launched the James Webb Space Observatory, the most powerful space observatory ever built. This mission launched from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana at 7:20 a.m. EST (12:20 UTC) on December 25, 2021, atop an Ariane 5 rocket. The telescope's status can be found at: https://www.jwst.nasa.gov/content/web...

Webb will observe a section of space and time never seen before, delivering a plethora of incredible vistas into an age when the very first stars and galaxies formed--more than 13.5 billion years ago.

It can investigate the atmospheres of distant worlds and explore the people of our own solar system in beautiful new detail. Webb will expose everything, from newly emerging stars to devouring black holes! It is the largest and most powerful space telescope ever constructed.

Webb is a NASA, ESA (European Space Agency), and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) multinational partnership. Thousands of engineers and hundreds of scientists worked together with almost 300 universities, organisations, and businesses from 29 states and 14 countries to make Webb a reality!
