Ordinary life is slowly returning to the war torn capital of Liberia as peacekeeping forces regain control of the city.

Residents of Monrovia are returning to the markets and trying to patch up their homes ruined in the recent wave of fighting.

The uneasy peace has come after ECOMOG troops were ordered to deploy across the city Monday.

Even the warring factions say without the West African peacekeeping force ECOMOG in the country peace will be impossible.

These children playing soccer in a dusty street could be anywhere in the world.

What makes it remarkable is that they're playing in Monrovia - a city which has witnessed some of the worst violence of Liberia's civil war.
