Like A Dragon: Ishin! Chapter 14- Dawn Breaks

Ryōma and Okita return to Kyo only to be greeted by an inferno that engulfs the city in its fiery grip. Amidst the chaos, they discover the gravely wounded figure of Kondō, his life flickering in the shadow of impending darkness. The narrative crescendos as Ryōma confronts his mentor's assailant, Izō, in a climactic clash that ends with Ryōma's triumph over his adversary. In the fleeting moments before Izō's departure from the world, he imparts a chilling revelation: Takechi, shrouded in the guise of Ryōma, has been orchestrating a sinister orchestration to spark a cataclysmic conflict between the Emperor and the Bakufu.

As dawn breaks on a new day, the stage is set for a confrontation of a different kind. Hijikata's summons unites the remaining Shinsengumi captains in a gathering marked by revelations. Here, Military Advisor Itō Kashitarō's complicity in Kondō's demise is laid bare, laying the foundation for the rupture that is to come. With an audacious step, Itō, Takeda Kanryūsai, and Tōdō Heisuke defect from the ranks of the Shinsengumi, erecting the Goryo Eji a new entity fortified by the loyalty of numerous Shinsengumi soldiers.

In a moment of revelation, Tōdō's covert role as Kondō's operative comes to light, a revelation that underlines the intricate web of intrigue that Kondō wove. Armed with newfound knowledge, the Shinsengumi's focus shifts to a forthcoming meeting between Takechi and loyalist representatives a pivotal juncture that promises to reshape the landscape of power.

Yet, as the Shinsengumi sets their trap, the undercurrents of anticipation run deeper than expected. Tōdō's life is extinguished in a moment of brutal confrontation, his fall a testament to the turbulence that envelops the era. Parallelly, Takechi's cunning prevails, as he employs a decoy to divert their attention during the meeting. The Shinsengumi's assault paints a tableau of chaos, with Katsura and Saigō slipping through their grasp, and Nakaoka left wounded in their wake. The climax unfurls as Ryōma confronts the decoy's lifeless visage, thwarted in his pursuit by the intervention of Itō and Mimawarigumi commander Sasaki Tadasaburō. Amidst the turmoil, Takechi's escape resounds like a haunting whisper, setting the stage for an impending confrontation that beckons Ryōma to Tosa.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! (龍が如く 維新! 極, Ryū Ga Gotoku Ishin! Kiwami, lit. "Like a Dragon: Restoration! Extreme") is a remake of the 2014 game Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin!, which was a Japanese-exclusive action role-playing game historical thriller spinoff of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

This remake was developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and released worldwide on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows on February 21, 2023, with owners of the Digital Deluxe edition being granted access on February 17, 2023.
