The French garrisons were ordered to leave the country after a military takeover, and the Wagner PMC was installed in their place. There are currently Russian mercenaries in Burkina Faso, Mali, and the Central African Republic. The fact that Niger is home to thousands of French and American troops complicates the situation there. Chad may be the next victim if nothing is done.
