Attabad Lake

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Attabad Lake had indeed become a tourist attraction in the Hunza Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Attabad Lake was formed as a result of a massive landslide that occurred in 2010, which blocked the Hunza River and created a natural dam. The lake that formed due to this blockage became known as Attabad Lake.

The turquoise-blue waters of Attabad Lake, set against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains, created a stunning visual spectacle that drew both local and international tourists. The lake offered opportunities for boating, fishing, and sightseeing. The newly formed Karakoram Highway (KKH) around the lake became an iconic route, with boats transporting people and vehicles across the lake while the new road was constructed.

The landslide had also caused significant disruption to the region, including the submergence of villages, infrastructure, and farmland. However, the transformation of the area into a tourist hub brought economic benefits to the local communities, as tourism became a source of income and livelihood for the residents.

Please note that there might have been developments or changes since September 2021 that I'm not aware of. I recommend checking with more recent sources or local authorities for the latest information on Attabad Lake and its status as a tourist destination.
