Government agencies, including the Department of Conservation, spread 1000's of tons of poisonous food across its forests and waterways, every year. Helicopters spread the Compound 1080 poison bait which is used to kill wild deer, pigs, possums and rats. Wildlife, pets and farm stock are also regularly poisoned.

1080 poison (sodium fluoroacetate), as it's known, has no antidote, and is among the most deadly poisons on Earth. All animals birds and insects that die of the poison, are poisonous to the next feeder up the food chain.

Over two thirds of New Zealand's national parks and state forests are now repeatedly poisoned, on a 2 - 3 year cycle, and it's increasing. This film (first released in 2010) examines this extraordinary practice, which in 2023, is more widespread than ever before.
