Hi, it’s Patrik Hutzel from intensivecarehotline.com with another quick tip for families in intensive care.
So Paul has called me the other day, and he was interested in the Intensive Care Hotline professional consulting and advocacy service. And Paul said, that he’s got his mom in ICU with COVID pneumonia. And he says, “Well, I’m getting vague answers from the doctors and they don’t answer my questions.” And then I said to Paul, “Paul, are you sure you are asking the right questions?”
And if you have watched my blog for any length of time, you would’ve heard me say before that, the biggest challenge for families in intensive care is that they don’t know what they don’t know. They don’t know what to look for. They don’t know what questions to ask. They don’t know their rights and they don’t know how to manage doctors and nurses in intensive care.
Intensive care is such a highly specialized area, that you really need to ask the right questions to get the right answers. Ask the right questions, and then you will get the right answers. How do you get the right questions? Well, you get the right questions by either engaging with us, but even if you don’t want to engage with us directly, I’ve made a video on the blog post about what questions to ask in ICU. And I put a link below this video.
