If I correctly understand Israel Houghton's version of things as recounted in his song story video, Ricardo Sanchez already had part of the song lyrics when he introduced it to Israel Houghton. They finished it and teamed up to record it at Free Chapel, the ministry of Pastor Jentezen Franklin.

In total, I have now found it separately recorded by both Sanchez and Houghton, as well as by Hezekiah Walker. Walker's version is closely based on the Free Chapel version, but with less orchestration, and it features Sanchez. The truest contrast is between the versions done by Sanchez with Free Chapel and those done by Israel Houghton. Any version you hear is worth the listen.
