Do you know what one of the secrets of being successful on Public Lands is! Often we are told to go deep, get away from hunting pressure and you'll find a mature buck. Many times that is the case. However, a secret that a lot of successful hunters use, is to find Public Land that is next to private land that has agricultural crops. Bigger bucks come from better nutrition, and research has shown this. So, if you don't have much time to hunt, or if you want to try a different strategy. Hunt the Public Land that is beside a soybean, corn field, etc. You'll still need to scout and find the best setup locations.
