Hezekiah and his leadership were inspired with a war strategy to protect Israel’s water — giving no access to enemies and effectively sustaining their military strength and life source. Their enemies were famous for maliciously contaminating their wells of drinking water in efforts to destroy them and wipe them out completely, or at least to get their military so sick they were unable to fight and defend themselves.

The chief priority of all believers is to guard our hearts and give no access to the enemy’s pollution and contamination. Make no mistake, Satan longs to contaminate your heart, but you must guard it with all diligence and wisdom—out of your heart flows forth the real issues of life. As Solomon wrote : “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23). Our heart is the most priceless piece of real estate on planet earth—this is why Jesus was commissioned to purchase it with His own blood. And we must steward our hearts as His chosen possessions.
