URGENT CALL OUT FOR HELP PERMIT HOLDERS! ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
North Shuswap residents are now confined to our homes. Even though Anglemont and Eastward are not on evacuation alert nor orders, we still cannot leave without a $65 permit (that is impossible to get.. even our local grocery store and gas station owners have been denied permits,) or by police escort, and then we will not be allowed back in. The military have moved in and are enforcing road blocks with the RCMP.
We finally have enough supplies for now. We thank everyone SO MUCH for all the rallying efforts to help us. Our current obstacle now is spreading those resources to where they need to be in the community. We need a permit to move about, and CSRD has denied all permits. The road blocks are preventing people from being able to drop off food, water, propane, gas, water pumps etc. to where they need to go. We have not been given any answers by officials, so for now we wait.
Some good news, BCWS has been helping out with a helicopter(s) and water bombing problem areas. A new fire in Anglemont early this morning was thankfully put under control with continued dousings from the helicopter. BCWS is currently water bombing parts of Lee Creek. The relief in seeing this help in the skies has been immeasurable. The sound of raindrops falling every so often is also bringing comfort.
