Don’t let your guests’s behavior determine your dog’s behavior

It can be easy to make excuses for our dogs when a guest comes over that they really like. We think “they can’t help getting excited because they love them!” However, your dog still knows the rules you’ve set whether their favorite person is over or not. You can’t always control how a guest behaves, BUT you can control what behaviors you do and do not allow your dog to perform. And if we make those excuses for our dogs when that person comes to our, the behavior will only become worse and the dog will begin to value that person over any boundaries we set for them.
