The Chandrayaan missions are aimed at exploring the Moon's surface, studying its mineral composition, mapping its topography, and investigating the presence of water molecules. The Chandrayaan-1 mission, launched in 2008, made significant contributions to lunar science by discovering water molecules on the Moon's surface.
Chandrayaan-2, launched in 2019, was a follow-up mission with a lander and rover component. While the orbiter successfully entered lunar orbit and continues to gather data, the lander Vikram unfortunately lost communication during its descent.
