Attack the day: Creating a strong morning routine | Finding the NEXTLevel

In our recent mastermind session, we delved into the valuable business tips outlined in Donald Miller's book, Business Made Simple. One particular suggestion that resonated with us is the importance of prioritizing high-return opportunities in the morning, when our minds are at their freshest. As professionals driven by our core values, it is crucial for us to understand how to effectively allocate our important tasks during this time.

While it is true that everyone's brain functions differently, research suggests that for most people, especially those over the age of 25, the morning is the optimal time for peak performance. During this period, our mental energy and alertness are firing on all cylinders. Unfortunately, many of us fall into the trap of engaging in low-return activities such as answering phone calls or responding to emails before addressing more pressing projects. In doing so, we unwittingly squander our valuable mental energy. Consequently, when we finally have the time to focus on important tasks later in the day, our drained brains are unable to perform at their best.

This not only hampers our productivity but also deprives us of the satisfaction of knowing that the most crucial task has already been accomplished. I must admit, personally, I struggle with this issue. Far too often, I find myself wasting precious time and energy in the morning on trivial matters like checking the news, sports scores, or scrolling through social media. Instead, I could be making significant progress in my business by focusing on areas such as marketing, copywriting, web design, or working on estimates and quotes. Rather than easing into the day gradually, I should be attacking it aggressively, tackling the tasks that genuinely move my business forward.

It is essential for each of us to evaluate our morning routines and make necessary adjustments. By dedicating our initial hours to important work, we can set the stage for a more productive day overall. I encourage you to reflect on your own routine and ensure that you are prioritizing important tasks in the morning. By accomplishing them early on, you will free up time to handle other responsibilities later in the day, without sacrificing the quality of your work.

Let us reinvigorate our mornings, transforming them into a time of heightened productivity that propels both our personal and professional lives forward. Remember, always strive to do good work.
