The world's most famous gems: The Tiffany Yellow Diamond

The Tiffany Yellow Diamond was one of the largest yellow diamonds ever discovered. It was originally 287.42 carats when discovered in 1878 in South Africa. It took over a year to carefully cut the diamond into a cushion shape of 128.54 carats to maximise its beauty.

In a grand decision, during a period when only royalty owned big stones, Charles Lewis Tiffany named the yellow diamond after himself. Then instead of selling the gem, he put the diamond on display in his store for the public to enjoy. This mesmerising diamond has made yellow gem necklaces a coveted addition to any jewellery box.
