Former US president Donald Trump has pre-recorded an interview with sacked Fox News host Tucker Carlson as his competition to bring to the US public in place of the Republican primary debate, according to Filmmaker Ami Horowitz.

“He is not willing to debate, that is fine, that is his choice, but why is the RNC allowing Trump surrogates to be in the spin room to put their spin on the debate that is happening without Donald Trump?” Mr Horowitz asked Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“They did a poll and 91 per cent of the potential viewers of this debate said very clearly they want everybody to make the case for themselves and they do not want to see them bashing Trump.”
