Energy Department announces $112 million for fusion research

The Department of Energy disclosed a funding allocation of $112 million for 12 projects aimed at optimizing the utilization of high-performance computers for nuclear fusion research.

The selected scientific endeavors will leverage a variety of computer resources, including exascale computers, to simulate plasmas, analyze turbulence, and tackle challenges related to energy loss, as outlined by the agency.

This initiative represents the most recent installment of research and development funding unveiled by the agency over recent months, FedScoop reported.
